A Word from Josh: Oh my friggin' Gawd, what could possibly said about the weather that hasn't already been ranted on ad nauseam!? Yes, it's been a weird Spring punctuated by heavy snowfall and arctic winds in mid-April. And we almost escaped it in time for tonight's show, which was originally planned to take place outdoors next to the scenic Rock River behind the Anchor Inn. The weekend's event was titled "A Break in the Weather" and by Friday afternoon it had become obvious that this name was merely wishful thinking and the show would have to take place inside the Anchor Inn's grand event room. We loaded in our equipment amid grey skies and chilly drizzle. Oddly enough, as the day progressed the sun came out and yet, despite the bright daylight, the temperature continued dropping. Indeed, this was not a good day for an outdoor gig. But, for an inside gig, it was pretty awesome. There was a lot of music on hand beginning with my friends Kelsey Miles and Terry Galloway playing a duet show in the main bar. Playing before us on the main stage was the Zac Matthews Band, a young hard-rocking, country act that proved quite impressive in many ways. Check out their video for one of there original songs called "She Don't Ride Shotgun". By the time our show started the building was pretty full of people who were already enjoying a lot of entertainment and we did our best to continue that vibe. The show went pretty well, except for the moment right before "Take It on the Run" when the battery in my acoustic guitar preamp abruptly decided to go belly up. Quick as a flash, our trusty roadie Kevin emerged from behind Dave's amps to replace the battery and the show went on with very little disruption. The crowd was great and we hope they had as much fun as we did. As for the scenic setting on the Rock River just a few yards from where we were playing?... We'll have two more chances to play out there this Summer when we return to the Anchor Inn on Sunday afternoon, June 3 and again on the evening of Thursday, July 5. We're really looking forward to those. After all, Summer has to get here eventually... right? --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? : "" |
