A Word from Josh: Playing at Serbian Days has been a tradition for us for more than a decade and typically signifies the bittersweet moment when we all realize that Summer is nearing an end. And what a Summer it has been. Wisconsin has seen more than its share of rain this Summer and so it was no surprise that water fell from the sky a couple of times this afternoon, but it wasn't enough to cause us much trouble. Like last year, our show was preceded by a performance from Georgia Overdrive who set the tone for the evening with some quality classic rock. As always, it was great to see many familiar faces in the crowd including Marnie "Brandi" Beier along with her husband Matt and their 7-year-old daughter Nicole. In the early days of the band Brandi came out to a lot of shows. She was such a big fan that John and I performed at her wedding. Since taking on the role of mother we haven't seen much of her. She decided to come to tonight's show along with her family after hearing that it would be one of John's last shows with the band. As we reminisced about the old days it was striking how much both Brandi and Matt haven't seemed to age much since then. Meanwhile Nicole has been growing like a weed and seemed to appreciate seeing the band at this church festival (I made sure she had some earplugs). Although they are sad to see John go, they acknowledged the fact that they have passed up many opportunities to see him perform with us over the past few years. I guess it's a classic case of you don't know what you got 'til it's gone. -Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? : "" |
