A Word from Josh: I've never been to a truck show before. There is definitely a certain culture specific to this industry which came through loud and clear as I walked around the event meeting people and admiring many of the very impressive trucks on display. Central to the event was a parade followed by an awards presentation. The awards presentation took place right along side the stage we were to play on inside the Waupun Hockey Association Ice Arena in the middle of Tanner Park. Hundreds of people gathered to see dozens of trophies handed out as we set up our equipment and did a very low-key sound check. One of the trucking companies that won awards for their restoration of old trucks was called Swen Transit out of Wautoma. I told them that "Swen" was a nickname we have for our singer John, so they gave him one of their trucker hats with "Swen Transit" embroidered on it. John seemed pretty tickled by that. By the time our show began the crowd morphed somewhat. My guess is that the numbers remained relatively steady, but many of the trucking people left, no doubt calling it an early night so that they could run their operations safely the next day, and were replaced by an influx of some of our loyal fans. The result was somewhat of a "hybrid-crowd" between the two elements which proved fun to perform for. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? : "" |
