A Word from Josh:
Tonight was a further example of how the landscape of live music venues has been shifting right under our feet in recent months. Of the eight shows we've done so far in 2017, six of them have been at venues that have been a part of our rotation for less than a year and three of them were rooms that we were playing in for the first time ever. Tonight was such a room. The Badger Bar, aside from having a name very similar to the late great Badger Bowl in Madison, is a nice venue with a high ceiling and a good stage on the far end from the entrance which gives the place the feel of a small concert hall, ideal for the type of show we like to put on. Although Cherry Pie had never played in Reedsburg before, I have some history here having played around the corner at Viking Lanes (now called Brewster's Lanes) with other bands several times in the early 90s. It's nice to be back experiencing the unique enthusiasm for classic music found in this part of the state. Tonight's weather was pretty crappy with snow returning to the area after record warm temperatures earlier in the week. We knew of some people cancelling plans to travel to the show because of the driving conditions. Still, we played for a pretty good crowd punctuated by a dozen or so particularly crazy drunks, both female and male, rocking out up by the stage. These are the type of people who make our job so much fun and keep the security staff on their toes. The show was quite a success despite the weather and we look forward to returning here in the Fall.     --Josh
