A Word from Josh:
A pattern has been established the past couple of years that this Syttende Mai event in Stoughton is our annual "Tech Rehearsal" for the "New & Improved" version of the Summer Cherry Pie show that we roll out every year. This is not only because this is the first true "Festival" show of the year, but also because the Mandt Community Center ice arena is an ideal facility for this type of thing. It is a spacious building with a high ceiling and concrete floor and the temporary stage is huge and an ideal height. This means we had plenty of space to utilize all aspects of our stage show that we have at our disposal. Crew members arrived in the morning. Frankie and I got there around noon. Matt was mapping out the latest additions to the sound system. Johanne worked out the architecture for all the lighting devices rigged up on trusses that would be used at their maximum height. We installed all of our CO2 jets and geysers. We rigged up all of our confetti blasters in new locations. We made maximal use of our scrims and kabuki curtain. And to top it all off, tonight marked the debut of our new video grid along the back wall. So, how did it all work out? Quite well actually. Aside from one stubborn geyser, the technical aspects of the show were virtually flawless. Oh yeah, and then there's the band, let's not forget about them. After all, this entire elaborate stage show is meant to complement the musical performance of Cherry Pie, particularly in a way that pays appropriate tribute to the music and exciting stage shows of the 1980s. Again, I would have to say... Mission Accomplished! Once again, we seem to have outdone ourselves and we very much look forward to bringing this show all around Wisconsin over the next four months. You are definitely going to want to check it out. As for tonight's show, it was a blast as we played for about 1000 people. The excitement was enough to already be talking about next year's event. Who knows what new parts of our stage show we will be unveiling then?    --Josh
