A Word from Josh: We played this event last year and had a great time. We were very pleased to be asked back. Speaking of "back," guess who was BACK fronting the band... none other than our own lead singer of the last 15 years JOHNNY SPANDEX who had missed the previous three shows with a serious rib injury. Although he's still moving around somewhat gingerly, he sounded great and it was a joy to have his affable goofiness back in the fold. Tonight was also an anniversary of sorts as it was at this event last year that Kase made his first appearance as our bass player. Unlike last year, today I was able to arrive super early and stay late, time mostly spent hanging out with members of Johnny Wad, the band playing on the stage on the opposite end of the building alternating sets with us. What a great bunch of guys. We talked shop, learned about each others families and shared ample amounts of adult beverages. Yes, those boys do love their Tequila. Overall, the show went pretty much the same as last year, which is a very good thing. A couple thousand people, most of them motorcycle enthusiasts, were on hand for the festivities. We saw many familiar faces, including some I hadn't seen in years including one of my favorite former bandmates Ron Kalista who I played with in Jukebox Heroes over 20 years ago. He currently plays with Vic Ferrari and proved that he still brings the big vocals when he joined Johnny Wad for a song. Frankie and I were also given the honor of joining Johnny Wad on stage for the very last song of the night "Nothing' but a Good Time." It was a jubilant way to end another great show. Thanks to everybody who helped make it so. -Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Sandy: "I can't believe I waited soo long (too long) to see you guys again!!! Keep on rockin'!!! Love you guys!!!" |
