We had heard good things about the Halloween Parties at The Shack so we were thrilled to be asked to participate this year for the first time. The event lived up to the hype as several hundred people filled the large facility, most of them in Halloween costumes in hopes of winning the generous $1000 grand prize for best costume. And then there was the music, oh yeah baby! The music was provided by a powerful combination of Cherry Pie and fellow 80s rockers Kindred Soul who was reuniting for this event. The Shack has one of the few stages large enough to accommodate the equipment of both bands at the same time, thus enabling us to alternate sets without lengthy breaks. The show could have been called "Cherry Soul" or "Kindred Pie." Kindred Soul got the show started at about 9:30 with a blistering set of 80s hard rock hits complete with guitar heroics and aggressive vocals. We followed that up with our own first set of... well, pretty much the same kind of stuff. Hey, it was an 80s hard rock lover's paradise all night. Frankie, Dann and I were in the spirit of the holiday and sported Halloween costumes on stage during our first set. Kindred Soul returned to the stage for another set followed by our final set to finish the night. Toward the end of the show The Shack announced their picks for the top 20 Halloween costumes. Frankie actually placed in the top 10 and took home some extra cash for his efforts. The entire bash was a splendid success and we had a great time. A special shout out of gratitude goes out to our sound man Matt and production crew Johann, Tennessee and Kevin who rose to the occasion of facilitating the production of both bands for over 4 hours of live music. Great job guys! --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Amy: "You guys rocked it" Lora: "You guys were great like usual. You never disappoint me!" |
