A Word from Josh: Summer can be stubborn. I mean, Labor Day was three weeks ago, we took time off to learn more tunes and we started playing the bars again. And yet here we were playing outside again. Pretty cool, both figuratively and literally. This was our 27th show all time in the Bud Pavilion, far more than any other outdoor venue. It's a great stage and it feels like home. Unfortunately, the early part of the show was marred with a series of technical problems, some more noticeable to the crowd than others. By the middle of the show things had smoothed out and I though we were really hitting our stride. The view from the stage was great. Outside the crowded pavilion we could see dozens of kids throwing straw at each other in a bit of a early Autumn version of snowball fight. Near the end of the show, many of the kids had gone home and the wind was really picking up. While over a thousand die-hard rockers remained the near the stage, the outside areas looked deserted. It was particularly striking during the intro section to "For Whom the Bell Tolls." The ominous music, combined with the sight of the trees being battered around by the wind in stark artificial light, made for a very menacing moment... very metal, very metal indeed! --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Angela: "WoW. Very impressive show. Great job on Styx and Survivor. Keep it up. See you soon" Kurt Rakowski: "Great Show as usual boyz,,,,way to rock the pavillion," Becky: "Rockin w/ya @ harvest fair was just what I needed:)" Julia: "Awesome show! I wish for a slice of Cherry Pie more often!" Dorraine: "It was a blast!" Dan: "hope you liked the 7 girls i brought to dance with!" Jerrilynn: "Super fun time!" Mari & Debbie: "First time at Harvest Fest enjoyed the whole fest, Loved the new songs particularly Big City Lights, Burning for You and Don't Want to Miss a Thing. Also like the new group photo with the cherry skulls and the red lighting around the band." Bittersweeteus: "CherryPie's two hour show was like harvest time. Have only a short time to reap in what they sowed. It might of had a few setbacks, but these guys grabbed the bull by the horns and continued on with vengeance and vigor. And John, who's one awesome classic rock highway star, put the pedal to the metal and with the wind in his face, gave us all the best performance he could muster up. It was well worth to come out to enjoy this cool fall night with the PIE! And just remember guys, no matter what difficulties that may come your way during the show, you know that together and individually you have the drive within you that can get you through anything. Cause you always prove that Rock is your business and you do it well!" Dawn: "It was a blast!" Francene: "I was there, WOW! You guys ROCK! Could have listened to you all night. First saw you back in '06 and I have been bragging about you to my friends since! Play some Steel Heart, would you? You have great guitar players, but I'd like to see you hit some Robin Trower tunes as well! Thanks!" Debbie & Gary: "We had an awesome night. Brought alot of friends with us. Hope they will continue to come to your shows. That had a great time too. You guys always know how to rock out. Hate to see the outside shows end. It is nice when all ages can attend." |
