A Word from Josh: Here's a trivia question for you... Although Cherry Pie specializes in rock music from the 80s, not all of the selections on our song list are actually from that decade. In fact, there are two songs that we play on a regular basis that were released AFTER Cherry Pie formed in 1999. Can you name them? I'll give the answer at the end of this journal entry so you have a chance to think about it. Tonight's show was the second biker benefit we've done this month and I have to say that this one was bigger, had a better stage and no one got hurt (that I know of). These factors helped us enjoy ourselves along with the great crowd that was out supporting a good cause. When we arrived, we passed by hundreds of motorcycles on our way into the tent where we were pleasantly surprised to see a couple of our former light techs, Bryan and Jason, playing in the band Stepping on Spiral, one of three other bands to perform over the course of the day. When we took the stage the sun had not yet set and the mood in the tent was positive, but relaxed. "We should never play in daylight," explained John as he worked hard to get a rise out of the audience early on. Indeed, as darkness set in, the crowd's inhibitions slipped away into the night and things really started cooking. We've always known that we're a good band for a biker crowd, but we seldom get such a good opportunity to prove it. We have to give props to the organizers of this event who hired us. Everything seemed very well-organized and we could tell that a lot of good was being done in the spirit of fighting cancer. OK, now back to the trivia question I mentioned earlier. The answers are "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi (released in 2000) and "We All Die Young" by the fictitious movie band Steel Dragon (released in 2001). 'Til next time... Vroom Vroom!!! --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Jill: "Playing "Pour Some Sugar On Me" for an encore is genious! Thank you! Keep June 28th open in 2008. Okay?" Andy: "AMAZING.....Thats the word I use to describe a truly great show. Thanks so much." Howard: "It's amazing how friendships are formed...I was at a Van Club party in Elkhorn, camping out with a couple hundred folks. After dinner I decided to take a ride to surprise John and see you guys do a few songs. The surprise turned out to be on me when I spotted some people I knew from prevous shows, and I ended up staying for the whole show and meeting even more people. The setup for the party was great from my point of view, and the organizers seemed totally in control. Tons of prizes for a great cause, and in all the fests i have attended, i have never seen a Fuddruckers booth! Totally enjoyed myself, had a great cruise back to our party, arriving in time for the last set of our band, and plenty of free beer. Thanks for the hospitality and company...See you all soon!" Stacey: "We thought you guys were the best we've seen in a long time!! It took me three days to figure out what your web page was. Thanks to 94.1 WJJO I know your schedule and will be rocking with ya'll soon." Bittersweeteus: "What a fantastic benefit that was put together to help raise money to help find the cure that will kick cancer's ass!! And to take the lead in this fight are CherryPie and the bikers. CherryPie who gave the best of their talents to entertain the people and the bikers who gave of themselves. CherryPie is a group of guys who are dedicated to what they do and together they make the most awesome 80's coverband in the area. And John, who is the frontman of CherryPie, stands his ground and has a heart that's like an open highway, showed everyone what it's like to perservere in what you want and believe in. This awesome group of five guys should be shown our undying appreciation because they are always there to show their dedication towards the fight against cancer!" c&t: "The show was awesome and so close to home for me. Totally enjoyed the show and watching John sing. Can't wait till the next time-thanks for a good time." Lori -: "Sorry it took me so long to check out your web site. But the whole committee would like to thank all of you for making our event very memorable. We have heard nothing but wonderful comments and you all made that possible. We hope you will be apart of your event next year. THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!!!!!" |
