A Word from Josh: This was our last outdoor show of the year and it turned out pretty good. However, it did not get off to a good start. The weather was perfect and this was a pretty impressive event held right on the streets around the intersection of 3rd St and Highland Ave which is a block east of the Bradley center in downtown Milwaukee. In addition to the music stage, Oktoberfest featured several cool food and drink vendors (awesome pizza) and a variety of businesses along the street such as "Lucille's Rockin' Pianos". The problem came in the planning stages. Apparently, live music was scheduled to get underway at 5:30. However, the street was not blocked off until 5:00 which meant that the band, the entire sound system and the stage itself all were supposed to be set up at ready to go in 30 minutes. Simply impossible. The first band, the very impressive Binky Tunny & the Farmland Chokehold, were finally able to start at 6:30. Our start time was pushed back to 8:30 so we chose to do one long set instead of two shorter ones as originally planned. Once our set began things really started cooking. The streets filled up nicely with a wide variety of people. Some people came out specifically to see us, but many just happened to be there so I think we won over a lot of new fans. I guess love was in the air because there were at least seven bachelorette parties that made their presence knows during the course of the evening. Other celebrations were also going on including the birthdays of two of our most loyal fans Jewelz and Greg, both of whom had been hyping up this evening for quite a while. Down the stretch we were really having a good time and we weren't the only ones. When the show ended the night was still young. I followed Jewelz's party to the Doctor's Office where Bellevue Suite was putting on a great show in front of a packed house. It's always a great combination when you can play a hot show and see a couple of other hot shows all in the same night. 'See ya at Rooters next Friday. --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Mel and Mandy: "The smiles on the members of Cherry Pie relinquish any perils in the audience - whether they are pushes from interpretive dancers or gropes from strange men. You guys made it, "ROCKtoberfest." It was a late start but you were worth the wait!" Jewelz: "Well I have to say that it was definately a PERFECT evening and I'm not just talking about the weather-which was beyond perfect for dancing outside. My night started out with dinner @ one of my favorite resturant Gus' Mexican Cantina with some friends of mine oh and don't forget the Margarita's! Then it was time for CP where I was met by ton's of my friends even some who have never even seen CP oh yah and MORE Margarita's!! The boys put on a terrific show then again we are talking about CP who is always awesome in my books. However since it was an outside show the evening did end a bit earlier than we are use to, so my birthday celebration continued on at the Dr's office where another terrific band was playing-yes Bellevue Suite. How lucky can you be to get 2 bands you just love to play on the same night as your birthday and get to see them both without having to choose? Well it was one terrific birthday!!! I want to thank CP for playing my favorite song for me - XXXOOO! And I want to thank all of my Wonderful friends who came out to help me celebrate (My sissy Kim, My hot & sexxy northern WI dance partners-yes both of them were there, Poison, Dawn & Ben-who ended up to be was my personal body guard-Thanx Dawn, Greg, Jeannie, Tammy, Laura, Stacy, Dave, George, Ken, Evan, Candice, Brian, Audry, Julie, Selena, Dave & Jenna too!!) and thanx to everyone for all the birthday wishes!!" Bittersweeteus: "What a way to end the slew of outdoor shows. Here we all are, located in downtown Milwaukee, on a street closed for a festive night. The weather was just perfect. The stage, the cp guys, were all geared up and ready to perform. Even though they only had two hours to play, they sure gave one hell of a show. The guys played as though their life depended on it. From start to finish, it was a non-stop headrush. John, looking great in his Slayer shirt and flaming black pants, used is steadfast demeanor and assertive attitude to keep the crowd intrigued til the end of the show. I never had so much fun in such a short time. Even though you guys were pressed for time, you came out shining as always." |
