A Word from Josh: It's Saturday night and, in the vast frozen wasteland south of Milwaukee, Kelly's Bleachers II is a hot oasis of rock'n'roll -- like a giant steaming pile of dog poop in the snow. OK, so maybe my poetic metaphors need work, but things do get hot and steamy whenever hundreds of Cherry Pie fans get together in one place. This was a darn good gig, puncuated by some special friends and some wild newcomers who put on a show for us in the front row all night long. We were happy to help celebrate several birthdays included those of good friends like Cathy (who came down from Sheboygan for the occassion), Jas, Melissa and Amanda. For the song "Girls Girls Girls" John invited a bunch of ladies on stage to strut their stuff. This is something we don't do very often these days, so I think John must have sensed that it was the right kind of crowd to get some hot babes from, and I'd have to say that he was right. This was a good night for all sorts of hijinx, including something that happened when I let my flute get too close to the audience (use your imagination). It turned out to be one of those shows where we were having so much fun down the stretch that the last set went long and bar time caught us off guard. We had to drop a few songs at the end and were not able to do an encore. Hopefully, you'll forgive us and come back for more next time ;-) --Josh Were you at this show? Would you like to comment on it? Bittersweeteus: "It seemed as though the eagerness of the people was starting to show as they were anticipating the arrival of the band on stage. But once the band got started, after awhile the crowd broke free of their inhibitions. As the night went on, John and the guys were turning up the heat, with their display of talent and high-spiritness! John was very captivating! He kept the crowd going with his strong determination and entertaining frolics. Just like the time when he portrayed a quarterback, had a huddle with the band and then they all led into a great song like a great play! I am so glad I went. I enjoyed the band, the songs, and dancing!! What a way to end a long work week." Michelle: "It's been along time since Jody and I were able to make the treck to see the Cherrypie boys. As always, we had a fabulous time and danced all night to our favorite 80's tunes. Even though we didn't get to hear our song--Monkey Business-- (hint, hint) we had an awesome time. Thanks for the fun evening. Hope you enjoyed the show as much as we enjoy yours! See ya soon." Greg Godina: "I am grateful for at least 3 things-(1) the great sounding music, (2) the even better looking women, and (3) a warm building to enjoy it all in!! KEEP ON ROCKING!!" Micki Z.: "I'd like to say that thanks to my boyfriend, Ken, (who introduced me to you guys last January) I have become a Cherry Pie junkie!!!! Every chance I get I try to come to your shows--I've even made it to the one in Ripon last summer. You guys are really great. Keep up the great work!!!!" |
