A Word from Josh: Well, another year has come to an end and, as John said on stage, we'd really like to thank all the fans who made it a good year for Cherry Pie. We hope that we helped make it a good year for you too. Believe me, there's lots more where that came from in 2003. We brought in the new year in style at Kelly's Bleacher's II along with 400 of our closest friends. Our show opened with a return of one of our old trademark stage gimmicks, brought out of mothballs for this special occasion ;-) . We managed to keep the heat wave going through the midnight hour and beyond with a crowd that was ready to party, complete with hats, noise-makers and champagne. And, of course, we un-leashed even more confetti than usual throughout the night. The midnight countdown on stage was broadcast live on Rock 102.1 courtesy of the lovely DJ Traci Curtis who was on hand giving away stuff and having a lot of fun with us. She had not seen the band before and she normally specializes in modern rock, but after getting the thorough "Cherry Pie treatment", including a bumper sticker on her "bumper", she was won over by the pleasures of big hair 80s rock, at least for one night. Her boyfriend Curt, an accomplished musician, was also getting into it, even joining in on keyboards for a part of "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'". Speaking of guest musicians, club-owner Kelly hopped up on stage to play bass on "Once Bitten Twice Shy". I've never seen him so spunky. Go on with yo' bad self! We were thrilled that so many continued the party with us into the early hours of 2003. One highlight was the memorable "bumper-stickering" of Birthday Girl Tai, one of several unbelievably hot babes in the crowd. Which reminds me, it's time for New Year's Resolutions, but as far as we're concerned, with the year we just had, we wouldn't want to change a thing! - Josh Check out the photos in the Rock 102.1 Scrapbook |
