Fun Fun Fun
This was what a New Year's Eve show should be. What a great time. For every balloon and batch of confetti that the bar provided we provided 3 more. The mess at the end of the night was colossal. Opening act Speedy Rhino did a great job getting the party started with their fun mix of Metal and Boy Band hijinx. Party favors and merchandise give-aways kept the festive atmosphere going. By the time we took the stage at about 11:30 the room was ready to explode with excitement. Explode was the right word as we used every bit of pyro we could muster after the set got underway. Our light tech was using some new equipment and schemes which looked awesome. The show wasn't perfect, but it didn't have to be perfect to kick ass in this rockin' environment. Everything felt great as over three hundred people celebrated the coming of the new year with us. Tom Birkenmeyer, Maribeth Luedtke, Erika Kaegler, Joe Rittberg, Julie Hoffman and Stephanie Roix were among our friends who were there. Lynn Rittberg and Colleen Evans each came with gifts for the band members and other friends. Lynn gave me a cool guitar strap which I used immediately on my acoustic guitar during the show. Connie Aney and Ann Fanke attended dispite each being injured at our last show. Even in bandages and on crutches Connie and Ann were at their sexiest and seemed to have a great time. During our show we did a few extra silly things such as the "If the Bra Fits... Wear It" contest. Once our second set began we had no idea when it would end. The bar's management told us that we could play as long as we wanted because the normal bar time would not apply. The crowd kept us going into the wee hours of the morning, often dancing on stage with us. When we finally ran out of gas it was almost 4 O'Clock. At the end I saw many friends drunker than I had ever seen them before. Everyone was tired, but in a great mood. Some of the band and family members stayed the rest of the night at Dave's house. He treated us the next afternoon to some great homemade pancakes. 2001 is off to a great start.    -Josh
