This was Cherry Pie's first ever gig outside of Wisconsin. Unfortunately, it was largely spoiled by heavy snow which caused us to start the show late and kept people away in droves. Many Chicago area friends had told us that they planned to attend, but most of them, quite understandably, played it safe and stayed home. Thus, we give special thanks to those of that group who DID show up including Ron Platt of the band Arra, Julie Draski, Rick Draski and Janet Schabow. Most of the rest of the crowd were totally new to us, and presumably didn't travel very far to get there. Some of these fresh faces included Michelle Pierce, Johnny Hernandez, Cindy Hernandez, Rob Porcilis, Chris Kiesel, Andy Breyer of the band Posin, Dan T Stix, Jamie O'Brien, Suzi Rostek, Shelleen Aust, Carrie Haney, Sean Hebiar, "The Pork", "Gibbers", Mike Exon, Vic Scholz, Christine Scholz, Karl Selega, Kim Selega, Greg Hallock, Laurie Hallock, Bruce Hausfeld, Ellyse Hausfeld and Mike Millican. The crowd was very vocal. In fact, John encouraged them to sing parts of "Love Song" and "Dead or Alive" and this group of less than a hundred sang louder than many other crowds many times larger. There was plenty of sexy dancing going on, on the dance floor, on the stage and on the bar itself. Some of the bartenders themselves started dancing on the bar late in the first set. DJ Scott Rock wanted to keep the dancing going during the break by playing "Who Let the Dogs Out". Well, it worked, maybe a little too well. Scott's own wife Connie and their friend Ann Fanke started dancing on the bar and then fell off. Connie hurt her wrist and Ann badly sprained her ankle, effectively ending her dancing for the evening. They both promised that they'd be recuperated enough to party down at our New Year's Eve show. -Josh |
