Faces in
the Crowd

Our first time in this room, the night was marred early on by power-amp problems in the PA system. Not only did we start the show late, but also, as people waited, the music coming from the DJ system sounded terrible as the sound technicians worked feverishly to fix the problem. We were quite relieved as we finally hit the stage full throttle at about 10:20. From that point on the show went quite well. There was a respectable sized crowd, we met a lot of nice people and we heard dozens of compliments and supportive comments. But to be totally honest, with a handful of notable exceptions, this room just didn't "rock" like how we are used to. Sensing the mellow atmosphere, toward the end of the show we traded in a couple of our pyro-laden heavy rock tunes for a couple of extra slow tunes. The people responded by taking advantage of every opportunity we gave them to "get close" on the dance floor. In particular, some of the new faces who seemed to enjoy the show included Eric "The Red" Maneranack, Sarah Wilson, Ronnie Blaziewske, Jenny Schmidt, Anne Nelson, Paul Schmidt, Kelly Kenna, Kristine Paulick, Amy Kohlmann, Christine Grube, Todd Ehardt, Frankie Bower, Dale Carlson, Gary Mack, Tom Nevala, Gale Nevala and Brian Spiker. Of course there were also many familiar faces including Lonnie Stinewal and Chris Stinewal who brought out some family and friends including Linda Ammon, Bob Ammon and Julie Tedeau. Other friends in attencance included Tom Birkenmeyer, Connie Aney, Ann Fanke, Maribeth Luedtke and Erika Kaegler.    -Josh
