More Fun on Stage |
Awesome night! O'Brien's is always a blast. I guess that's what happens when you pack a couple hundred rockin' Cherry Pie fans into such a small room. Also, O'Brien's bartender Dawn Farris again played a large roll in making the night a success. She organized a Birthday Party at the bar for her friend Tammy Rehak. Some of their friends who took part in the festivities included Julie Riemer, Jessie Rehak, Serena Rehak, Crystal Rehak, Theresa Paust, Lisa Knepper and Kelly O'Toole. Let me tell you, this is a fine looking group of young ladies and their enthusiam on the dance floor (and the stage) did a lot to elevate the excitement of the night. Another very different factor that added to the excitement was the fact that we dodged a handful of near-catastrophic technical problems. Before the show John and I accidently ripped an AC cable loose from our light dimmers. After removing over 20 screws we were able to open the unit and repair it. Without it we would have had no light show. A short time later I discovered that my keyboard mixer was not working properly. The sound man Jim Chiello helped me work around that problem. Then, the most dramatic close call came late in the show when Andre of the band Panty Raid came up on stage to sing a couple songs. He was really kicking ass, so much so that during "Monkey Business" he lost his balance and fell backwards into my keyboards. I was standing nearby playing guitar and had to reach out to "catch" one of the keyboards before it crashed to the floor. Again, disaster was narrowly averted as Andre was able to finish the song and no harm was done to my keyboards. We all had a healthy giggle about it later. During the show we discovered another lovely Birthday Girl named Amy Grasse. Overall, John did a great job of managing a lot of "traffic" on the stage through out the night. He even talked some women into kissing each other while in the spotlight. Needless to say, that was a popular move. Meanwhile, many of our "CP Regulars" were being supportive as usual including Tom Birkenmeyer, Erika Kaegler, Maribeth Luedtke, Barb Prueher, Stephanie Roix, Julie Hoffman, Dawn Busalacchi, Andi Brodsky, Vic Manchester, Susan Schudiske, Kathy Reuteler, Christine Schmitz, Nikki Schmitz, Kim Schmitz, Derek Schmitz, Sandy Cullen, Rachel Lapalme, Julie Keller and Carolyn Truman. I was glad to meet some members of other bands such as Katella and Creeping Charlie. Some new faces in the crowd included Debbie Angeli, Jan Ambrosh, Mike Bernstein, Pam Willis, Tom Swift, Kim Ragsdale, Julie Friess, Suzy Cull, Cindy Lucka, Erin Bartes and Mike Christensen. -Josh |
