Band on Stage |
A Word from Josh: The Bar in Appleton is a very large building. However, most of it is an indoor volleyball facility. The room we actually played in was rather small and the stage was tiny, limiting our performance and allowing no pyro and only about half of our lights. Still, the ample crowd showed a lot of appreciation for what we were doing, ranging from polite applause to all-out screaming and headbanging. One guy was celebrating his Bachelor Party by wearing a ball and chain and getting really, really, reeeeeally drunk. He proved to be quite entertaining. There was only a moderate amount of dancing and many of the people on the dance floor were familiar to us, including Sheryl Swanke, Sue Swanke, Mam Meyer, Maribeth Luedtke and Erika Kaegler. During the sing-along on "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" John managed to pit two very vocal tables against each other in a singing/screaming contest. For an encore we played "Turn Up the Radio" which soundman Shawn Christians took quite literally as he boosted the volume significantly making the walls rattle. "I just took it out of idle for a bit" Shawn explained afterward. While some hard-core metal-heads seemed to dig the ultra-loud finale, others weren't quite as amused. For those of you who were seeing the band for the first time, I hope you help spread the word so that we can come back to Appleton. Perhaps we'll see you in Sheboygan on November 10. - Josh |
