Band on Stage |
Faces in the Crowd |
John and I both live in the Madison area so we were really glad to finally be playing back in our hometown for the first time since last December. Of course, a lot has changed for the band since then. We've been building a pretty good following around Milwaukee and up the coast and we were really hoping that our popularity would spill over into the State Capital. Well, so far so good as we were able to draw a strong crowd to the Regent Street Retreat Annex. Buzz around the room was very positive including from the bar's management, hopefully setting the tone for many successful return visits. Our performance was pretty good, bolstered by the Annex's strong house sound and light systems. Most of the audience stayed right to the end (always a good sign) and did an excellent job of singing along when called upon to do so, and sometimes even when they weren't called upon. John in particular had many family and friends in attendence. Some of the familiar faces included Tom Birkenmeyer, Ann Mehlebrech, Ron Mehlbrech, Meri Hendricks, Jeff, Rob Strange, Dave Shanklin, DeEtte Shanklin, Rod Cupp, Jennifer Cupp, Dan Leach, Jim Keifer, Diana Padley, Kelly Padley, Michelle Main, Jason Swenson, Dave Swenson, Jeanette Swenson, Jim Swenson, Ann Swenson, Cindy Olson, Joe Wood, Dan Schlichting, Kris Edwards, David Ham, Randy Syftastead, Brad Wilbourn, Mel Wilbourn, Mike Frion, Bob Schultz, Teresa Andrews, Ross Johnson, Rene Rozanas, Jason Deery, Walter Cullen, Sandy Cullen, Mike Radke, Tanya Pisarek, Sandy Schroeder, Jason Becker, Stuart Smith, Connie Aney and some of the guys from ABC Supply. Scott Aney came up from Kenosha to act as the official DJ for the evening. At the end of the night when we were packing up our equipment the staff had to sweep up quite a mess off of the floor which included Silly String and confetti which John had launced from the stage. They got an unpleasant surprise when, after the floor was pretty clean, more confetti that had gotten stuck to the ceiling suddenly fell creating a new mess. -Josh |
