A Word from Josh: Ridgeway is a cozy little hamlet hidden off of the highway between the bustling metropolises of Barneveld and Dodgeville. But that didn't keep over a thousand people from coming out to party their asses off with us on the local baseball field. Activities started early with food fun and music throughout the day. Entertainment started on the main stage at 6 PM with the venerable JC Band, still rockin' it strong after all these years. We finally hit the stage at about 9 PM and the magic was immediate. A couple years back we played at Uncle Milt's Pub across the street and had a rockin' good time. "We've got to get you to play our Labor Day Festival," Milt's owner John Greene told us. "It's totally nuts!" Well, it took a while to get us there but he was certainly proven correct. Driven by a bunch of crazies packed up against the stage from the first notes we managed to put on one of our best shows of the year. The vibe was great from start to finish. The event was selling T-shirts that said "Get Baked with Cherry Pie at Ridgeway Labor Day." We thought they were hilarious. Shane even wore one on stage for part of the show. John was ticked off that we didn't think of it first. The stage was completely open-air which lent itself to a great ambience and helped the lights and pyro look great. But, it also caused quite a scare at the end of the show when we felt a few raindrops. But, fortune smiled on us yet again as the impending storm held off for a couple more hours allowing us to pack up our equipment without it getting wet. Overall, it was a spectacular event and we had a great time. They also managed to raise quite a bit of money for local children's charities. Perhaps we'll see you folks again next year. - Josh |
