A Word from John:
Well it was bound to happen sooner or later. We have been very lucky this summer with our festivals; from Summerfest to the Red Cracker Fest, we've had very good weather, but ol' Mother Nature finally caught up with us. Saturday's storms were very severe. The Badger football game was postponed and nearly canceled as torrential downpours blanketed the area. This was what we were up against, so when we got to Nelson's Crossing we found out that the tent they had set up for the bands actually blew over and had to be set up again in the bar parking lot. At 6:30 the crowd was very sparse and with more rain on the way we were very concerned. But as the band before us, the "Visitors" were finishing up they're set, people started to filter in and things were looking up. We decided not to let the weather get us down so we were set to take the stage and Josh came up with the line of the night. He said that we have a unique opportunity to save this party -- and save it we did! The crowd was mostly new people who haven't seen us before so we also had a chance to gain new fans and judging by the reception we received, this mission was also accomplished. At a little after 1:00 a.m. Our set was done and we had a chance to do something we normally don't get to do; sit down with the fans and join them for some drinks and good cheer. So to sum it all up, despite bad weather, you can chalk up another great one for the boys in Cherry Pie. I guess things are only as bad as you let them be. See you soon....     - johnny s.
