A Word from Josh: I know that the Wisconsin State Fair is a grand tradition, but this was my first visit. The 12-day event is billed as "Too Big to Miss" and I guess they're right. But it's also too big to have such limited street access. Well, after fighting through traffic to get to the fairgrounds we found that our journey had just begun as we were then forced to risk the lives of thousands of attendees by driving our trucks through the crowded midway to get to the Bud Pavilion. The band playing before us was the Elvis tribute Tom Green Show. Yup, Cherry Pie and Elvis... It don't get better than that! Anyway, our show went pretty well. We went through some trouble to get a part of our light show up for this gig. Unfortunately, it was largely muted by ambient light in the pavilion. We also made use of our video show by projecting it on a make-shift shower curtain (or something like that). It was great to see a lot of familiar faces in the strong and very vocal Monday night crowd, many of whom were bouncing back and forth between us and King Kong who were performing over on the Old Style Stage. We were pleased that the crowd didn't thin out as the hour grew late on what was a work night for many of us. In fact, we finished our show to quite an ovation, but unfortunately we were not allowed to do any encores. Hopefully, those people asking for more will be motivated to come to another show soon. - Josh |
