A Word from Josh: Now, this is a festival that really does it right. The usual attractions, rides, "Get Your Picture Taken with a baby Tiger", food and beer - plus good country bands throughout the afternoon on a day than would end with Cherry Pie on the main stage which was perfectly set up for what we do. The high, spacious stage with a high, solid roof perfectly complemented our lights and rear video screen making our show really look like an arena concert from the 80s. Over 3000 people had a good view of the action and they weren't shy about participating. The loud cheers and singing along was just a part of it. As the night went on, people were loosing their inhibitions and some were coming up on the stage to do some down-and-dirty dancing with us. There was even a instance of stage diving. People packed up against the front of the stage and grabbed at our legs whenever we wandered too close to the edge. Once woman even threw some money at Shane. We were being treated like pieces of meat. It was awesome. One reason credited toward the success of this event was a radio promotion which included an in-studio chat and acoustic jam with John, Shane and myself Friday morning on WTCX 96.1 FM, Fond du Lac, with Gregg and Heather. That was a lot of fun. Also present at the radio station was Ripon Fest organizer Jason Mansmith, the man responsible for bringing us to this event. He was great. He made sure that we were well taken care of through out the evening. Even the mosquitoes were friendly. John brought Jason on stage in front of the big crowd to acknowledge his efforts on behalf of the festival. Then, during "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" Shane handed his bass guitar to Jason who seized the opportunity to strut around the stage like a rock star. No wonder he wants us back for next year. And we definitely look forward to returning. - Josh |
