A Word from John: Coming into a new club can be a very difficult thing for a band. There is always the element of the unknown. What is this place like? Are the acoustics good? How big is the stage? Is there indoor plumbing? Fortunately for us, we have been very lucky; so far all the clubs we've been at have been very receptive to us and the Lodi Bowl was no exception. A couple of weeks before the show, I stopped by to pass out some fliers. As soon as the owner saw that I was there he introduced himself and proceeded to buy me several drinks, so I knew this was my kind of club. The Lodi Bowl is unique in that it has a partial in-house PA and light show. This is good for us, meaning we don't have to bring quite so much gear. Less work is always a good thing. It took us a little while to get used to a system that we haven't used before, but judging by the crowd's instant response, it must have sounded good. We didn't have the biggest crowd in the world - maybe around 200 or so - but everyone there was very impressed and was more than willing to spread the word around the area the next time we are in town. I am personally looking forward to taking some more fliers up there for our next show. (Money is tight and I could use some more free drinks!) Hey, if we became their "house" band I could become the raging alcoholic I've always wanted to be... just a thought. :) Later y'all. - johnny s |
