YEEEEEE-HA! Let me start by establishing the fact that this was easily the best night that Cherry Pie has ever had. By that, I don't mean the most people nor the most money nor the best musical performance. What I mean is that it was the most FUN! This modest little sports bar near the baseball stadium was packed with some of the rowdiest party animals that we've ever seen. Leading the way was Dawn Farris, a very popular bartender who invited over 100 of her friends to join us in celebrating her birthday on this night. Dawn's closest friends, Jessie and Tammy also helped make the occasion special. Early in the second set we brought Dawn up to the stage where we sang "Happy Birthday" (of course). Jessie and Tammy then presented her with a giant Birthday Cookie and us with a Giant Cookie that said "We Love Cherry Pie" on it. Then, in a wonderful display of public lewdness, John helped apply a Cherry Pie tattoo to Dawn's bare tummy. Finally, we got back into the set by playing "Dead or Alive" from Dawn's favorite band Bon Jovi. Still, the party was just getting started. The crowd remained packed in and rocking our asses off all night. From the stage we saw a sea of faces, many of them singing along with many of the songs. Some of the folks that I know were there included Barb Prueher (down from Sheboygan), Lisa Kelm, Kelly McClure, Kristine Andres, Stacy Hackl, Sheila Tate, Lynn Smith (down from Fond du Lac), Kitty Havlicek, Will Schull, Mary Kay Mcnew, Tom Birkenmeyer (his seventh consecutive CP show), Maribeth Luedtke, Erika Kaegler, Vic Manchester, Susan Schudiske, Russ Waarvik, Laurie Waarvik, Tim Farrell, Penny Farrell, John Smith, Michelle Smith, Tina Whiting, Earl Buckwalter and Christine Schmitz. We'd like to thank all of you who made it such a special night for us. You really made that place hot, in more ways than one. Afterward, while we were packing up our gear (sifting through the rubble) we ate our giant cookie and went through a gallon of milk in mere moments. A yummy end to a very yummy evening. -Josh |
