A Word from John: Well what can I say? Monroe kicked our asses once again and man did that feel good! It has been awhile since our first visit to "cheese maker" country and it was nice to know that they haven't forgotten about us. I must admit I was a little worried about how things would go, let me explain. I have been so freakin' busy at my job that a good nights sleep is about as rare as a three dollar bill. on Friday morning I had to get out of bed by 4:30 a.m. and the night before I didn't get home until 7:30 p.m. I don't know if you people realize this or not, but my body is my instrument. If my body is tired my voice is tired. I knew that I could get through Friday night's performance with little difficulty but the second night had me a bit concerned; but I felt that if we had a good crowd, --a festive crowd, something to pump me up, I would be o.k. And that's exactly what happened. The crowd was there early and had to be herded like cattle to the door at bar time (I love a crowd like that) and I can't remember one song that the dance floor was not full of fun loving people enjoying good music and having a good time. But the thing that really made our night was the large contribution of bras for our drum kit from the ladies! (At least I hope they came from ladies!) Hell, we had so many bras on stage it looked like Victoria's Secret was having a rummage sale! All different colors and sizes - wait, I'm getting excited, I better move on before I have an accident. But seriously, we thank you for your contributions to our stage and I think it is tax deductible so save those receipts! I was also pleased to see many people from my home town of Blanchardville in attendance. Here are a list of the people I remember seeing: my brother Jim and his wife Ann, my brother Dave and his wife Jeannette, Jeff Moen, Ken Lowe, Randy Syfteasted, Toby Moen, Julie Nelson, Neva Grunfelder, Billy Theobald, and Brent Peterson (if I've forgotten anyone please forgive me, I'm an idiot!) Even Joni and Chuck Kiester (my cousins) made an appearance, albeit a short one. I think maybe we were too much for 'em. They all take a hankerin' to that country music. But it was sure nice to see them there. Another cousin, Bruce Breisath and his wife Martha, were there too. Bruce was a little mellow on this night because he was out celebrating his 42nd birthday the night before. Happy Birthday you ol' fart! Now as you may or may not know, Sir Buk's does not have bands during the summer months so it will be a while until we get back down there again, but a fall schedule is already in the works. In the meantime, all you Monroe people can catch us in Madison on May 12th at the Badger Bowl. It's not that far of a drive to Madison, it usually takes me about a 6-pack! Until next time Monroe, we won't forget about you, please don't forget about us! Thanks again - YOU PEOPLE RULE! - John |
