Well, last week we posted an Opinion Poll to get feedback on my new goatee. I figured I'd let the masses decide weather I kept it or shaved it off before tonight's show. Well, over a five day period the masses spoke (well, 32 of you did) and the verdict was resoundingly indecisive. At the time that I left home for the show "Keep It" and "Get Rid of It" were tied with 12 votes each and another 8 people had voted "Undecided". What was I to do now? It occurred to me that I could shave half of it off. That would have been good for a quick laugh, but then I think it would have gotten a little weird. So, instead, I kept the goatee to begin the show, and then shaved it off during the break between sets. The sad thing was that not many people seemed to notice, including my own bandmates!!! Anyway, this was an awesome show. Lots of people responded to our plea to come out and make this big room look respectably full. The result was a great crowd having a great time which made it an absolute blast for us. Loyal fans like Lonnie Stinewal, Chris Stinewal, Lisa Kelm, Kelly McClure and Tom Birkenmeyer were among those who spent their Good Friday with us. Other familiar faces in the crowd included Stephanie Roix, Julie Hoffmann, Wendy Panaro, Marc Panaro, Shawn Severson, Kitty Havlicek, Will Schull and Kelly Bitzan who was there with several friends. Some folks even traveled great distances to come to the show including Barb Prueher & Cathy Dorsano who each came down from Sheboygan and Jessica Gengozian & James Trent who drove over from the Madison area. But the award for most miles traveled to the show goes to Valerie Schultz who came all the way from Baraboo! We were also pleased to see several fellow musicians in the room including members of Metal Men, "Chachi" from Croszing Jesus and members of Panty Raid including Andre who joined us onstage to sing "Monkey Business". He did a killer job ("Pretty good", said John... "Maybe a little toooooo good"), but not before offering a warning to the aspiring musicians in the room. "If you need to make flyers for an upcoming show, go to Econoprint and use that machine to cut them. Don't do it at home with an Exacto knife!" Andre said raising his hand to reveal a heavily bandaged thumb. That cracked me up big time. -Josh |
