Band on Stage |
Faces in the Crowd |
A Word from Josh: A great and fun night for all involved, and the tone was set by club owner Mike Simon who got the crowd into a frenzy more than once with his hyped up band intros, lead vocals on "Once Bitten Twice Shy" and a wild big hair wig that he wore all night. I've never seen a bar make so much effort to get a crowd going with rowdy and lewd behavior. "I think we can learn a thing or two from them," I commented to John early in the night. Yet, at the same time, I've never seen a bar take so many security measures to prevent people from going "too far", as was the case with one particular gentleman whose appreciation of our music turned into downright harassment at the front of the stage late in the night. After he spilled half of his beer directly into one of our monitor speakers he was efficiently escorted away by two bouncers. The hospitality that the staff showed the band was tremendous. The bouncers were big, professional and friendly; the women behind the bars were all gorgeous and kept us full with drinks and pizza all night. Hospitality of a different kind was extended before the show when devoted fan Maribeth Luedtke hosted a pre-show party at her house which is only a couple of miles from the bar. Some of the other fans who joined us there were Maribeth's husband Paul, Stephanie Roix, Tom Birkenmeyer, Janet Schabow and Barb Prueher. Among the food that Maribeth served was, appropriately enough, Cherry Cheesecake... Yum Yum!!! Some other "Regulars" who made it to the gig included Julie Hoffman, Christine Schmitz, Trevor Powers, Rachel Lapalme and Julie Keller. The large party crowd also included some familiar faces from the past including Laura and Nikki who I hadn't seen since I was with Jukebox Heroes many years ago. Other friends from the past included Julie Barnes and Steve MacDonald who got up and played drums with us on "Tom Sawyer". Well, at least we gave him something easy to play (yeah right!). He did a great job. All in all, we had a great time. We really like this bar and they sure seemed to like us. We look forward to returning sometime real soon. - Josh |
