We were supposed to make our Kenosha debut back on February 18, but that show was cancelled due to heavy snow which made parking at the club all but impossible. This time around the weather cooperated as we made our first show at Tropical Nights a successful one. The large stage allowed us to let loose even more than usual. The crowd responded with enthusiastic support which included lots of noise and a dance floor that kept busy right from the first note. Among the more active participants were Maribeth Luedtke and Erika Kaegler. Some other friendly faces included Tom Birkenmeyer, Lonnie & Chris Stinewal, Jennifer Rozanas and Rod Cupp. Ann Mehlbrech and Meri Hendricks came all the way down from Wisconsin Rapids (about 250 miles) to see the show. The mood was very festive all night as people danced everywhere; on the dance floor, in a cage and on stage. In fact, we seem to have more people coming up on stage every show - Someday, something's gonna get broken, but not tonight. One woman in the crowd was celebrating her birthday and a bunch of her friends came up on stage and sang a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" for her. Shelly Shatkins had all the band members sign her jeans, encouraging us to do so in some rather intimate spots. Club DJ Scott "Rock" Aney and his wife Connie were celebrating their third wedding anniversary and did a spotlight dance during "Faithfully". Later, Scott came up and sang lead on "(I Hate) Everything About You". A little later Dale Carlson, formerly of the band DC Roxx, came up and sang both Kiss songs. Overall, it made for a very easy set for John. Some new faces in the crowd included Shari Fox, Jason Schiller, Shari Laskowski, Scott Hendricks, John Landree, Joe Kuehn, Camela Langendorf, Candy Shatkins and Rollie Shatkins. Extended jams, wild dancing and guests on stage prolonged the third set late into the night until management had to shut us down. Our next trip to Kenosha is just five weeks away and we're counting on you folks to bring the same kind of attitude to that one ;-) -Josh |
