A Word from Josh:
This was our second trip to Fond du Lac (a Native American word meaning Lake of Melted Cheese). We played here in July, 2000 and they liked us so much they asked us back almost two years later. The last time we played in "Fondy" we had a different President, the Ravens & Diamondbacks had not yet won championships and "Osama" seemed like a pretty good name for a coffee shop. Yes, a lot has happened since then. Anyway, people were in a festive mood for a variety of reasons. Of course there was a lot of St. Patrick's Day revelry going on, plus there were a couple of Bachelorette Parties going and AND after midnight officially was my Birthday. The band along with friends Maribeth and Erika were great, presenting me with my favorite kind of birthday cake (cheesecake piled high with the appropriate cherries) and gifts including a bag of cookies, a Spinal Tap video and a 9-volt battery. These guys know me so well. Other old friends who celebrated with us included Lynn, Robyn, Shelly, Karen, Sue, Sheryl and Mam. Paul and Rick from the band Blizzard of Oz came out to rock with us and even sat in on a couple of tunes. The band Blu Steel was playing a few blocks away and during one of their breaks their drummer Fillet came over and bought us a round of shots. Very cool. Dave made a fashion statement by sporting two new shirts which feature large images of Kiss and AC/DC. Meanwhile, the always fashionable Shane had his hands full with many folks who wanted to wear his hats. Despite his refined aesthetic, let me assure you that Shane is straighter than a road in North Dakota. You know, Cherry Pie is not the first band that he and John have been in together. They go way back, and the funny thing is that all of their bands have been named with some kind of reference to reproductive organs including Cherry Pie, Love Gun, The Mighty Mighty Testicles and Fallopia. Anyway, the night really rocked and we had a great time. Hopefully, Fond du Lac will be willing to have us come back. So I figure we'll see you guys again around January, 2004.     - Josh
