* - Debut The Band On Stage |

Another great Milwaukee show. We're definitely on a roll in Wisconsin's biggest city. A more streamlined light show enabled us to make better use of the small stage than the last time we played at O'Brien's. Comparatively decent weather and continuing word-of-mouth also resulted in a much bigger crowd than last time. It's very exciting for us that so many people now consider a Cherry Pie show to be "The Place To Be" and the fan base continues to grow by leaps and bounds with every show. Bartender Dawn Farris has recently become one of our biggest fans, which is very cool, especially since she has a lot of friends. She's also a big Bon Jovi nut and was thrilled by our debut of "Dead or Alive" which also went over great with the rest of the crowd. Before the show a woman asked if she could get her picture taken with us. We were flattered... until we found out that she didn't even know who we were or what kind of music we played. It turned out that she was celebrating her birthday and wanted to be photographed with a band to help mark the occasion, and apparently she didn't care which band. Anyway, after learning more about us, she and her friends ended up having a great time and were among the first on the dance floor. Of course John pulled her into the spotlight for a special birthday dedication early in the show. The dance floor remained full from about midway through the evening until the very end when we were prevented from playing a second encore by management because of bar time, leaving a lot of screaming folks on the floor (well, they always say "leave 'em wanting more"). Earlier, we faced a similar scene as we finished our second set and rabid fans practically refused to let us off of the stage without another song. We pulled out "Gettin' Better" by Tesla as a rare "mid-show encore". Some of the familiar faces in the crowd included Barb Prueher & Patricia Lasko (who drove down from Sheboygan to see us) and Tom Birkenmeyer. Some of the new faces showing a lot of enthusiasm included Maribeth Luedtke, Erika Kaegler, Sheila Tate, Stacy Hackl, Blase Weisensel, Julie Draski & her husband (who drove up from Chicago to see us based on a mutual friend's recommendation), Gary Hoye, Tuc Krueger, Jenny Brodhagen, Nicole Halloran, Rachael Medrow and Darla Groat. -Josh |
