A Word from Nick: Friday marked a return to Franklin for the band and the Cherry Pie show was taken to the Limit. What can I tell you about a show that goes off without a hitch? I mean some nights you just have one of those WD-40 type of shows where the band goes about its business like a well oiled machine. Just a couple of points that I can think to pass along are the following... First off we had no O.J. for the night, which gives a different feel to probably everyone in the band because we all have to do all of the little stuff by ourselves, for example we have to all get our own beer and load up all of our own stuff and things like that which you take for granted when O.J. is around. I guess it's kinda like that old Cinderella song says "you don't know what you've got till its gone," yea that seems about right, however we did have the assistance of one of the....,hell, the only man who could have filled in for O. J. and not missed a beat and that person that I am talking about is the one and only "Ratt" (you know, roadies never actually have REAL names). Now many of you may not know Ratt so let me tell you about him. Ratt has helped put quite a bit with rodie duties when O.J.could not be there and he always comes through with flying colors. He s also the main man for the world famous "rattfest", which is only the biggest musical extravaganza to hit oconomowoc foe a weekend in early July. Yeah, people come from miles around to get into the only music fest which could give summerfest a serious run for their money. Some of you may or may not know that Cherry Pie has made an appearance at Ratfest and both times are great thanks goes out to the ratt! So again special thanks goes out to ratt for his help and I especially want to thank him for his patience in putting up the drums with me. You see I had to use one of my other drums sets and I wasn't real sure how I wanted to set it up so, yea, there was alot of screwing around wit it but the Ratt never once raised his voice or got pissed off he just stayed on task like it was his lifes mission to get those drums up. The other thing that caught my eye for the night, was that we had alot of really tall women at our show. I'm not sure if I have a point to that comment but I just figured that I would throw it out there, also I am not he only one who noticed this because after the show we were all talking about it. Well, anyway what more can I really say, I mean do you really want me to beat the dead horse by saying the usual, we had a great crowd, we played pretty well, and a good time, OK fine I said all of that. Now if you don't mind I think I am going to get going cuz to tell you the truth when it comes to trying to come up with more to say, well the fact is I got nothin'. Take care. - Jack Hammer |
