A Word from Josh: Perhaps we're just getting spoiled, but in the aftermath of New Year's mayhem, this evening felt rather anti-climactic. The unfortunate result was that our performance seemed somewhat flat (along with our hair). To his credit, John was the one band member who managed to give his usual high-energy performance, so I guess that makes it OK... I mean, nobody really pays attention to the rest of us, right? Anyway, we played here just five weeks ago. That night it was totally packed. This time, the crowd was good, but there was plenty of elbow room to move around and get to the bar for drinks (so that's a good thing, right?). We had some unusual technical problems, which we overcame with graceful professionalism. One of Nick's bass drum heads was badly torn, but our trusty stage technician O.J. managed to get it through the evening. Goodness sakes, that boy is an absolute magician with a roll of duct tape in his hands. Shane had problems with his bass wireless system... once again it was O.J. to the rescue. Another "technical" problem came when, in the middle of a song, John stepped on a dip in the stage and fell down. He made the most of it however, and sang the rest of the song while resting comfortably flat on his back. Many of our Milwaukee "regulars" were in attendance including Stacy Hackl, Sheila Tate, Tom Birkenmeyer, Julie Keller, Rachel Lapalme, Julie Hoffman and Stephanie Roix. Maribeth Luedtke was making use of her new video camera. Danny Black was enjoying himself while attempting to recruit female models for his photography business (www.sensationalphotography.com). You know, it's pretty cool when people think of Cherry Pie shows as a good place to find good-looking women (we must be doing something right). - Josh |
